How to play European Blackjack Gold: strategy and
rules
European Blackjack Gold is similar to all other blackjack games.
Both the player and the dealer aim to reach a score of 21 using
two or more playing cards. Whoever gets the closest to 21 without
going over, or ‘bust’, is the winner.
•The European Blackjack Gold game is played using two standard
decks of 52 cards. All face cards have a value of 10 while Aces
can have a value of either 1 or 11.
•Player and dealer initially receive two cards. One of the dealer’s
cards is visible to the player. Additional cards, up to a maximum
of eleven, may be drawn but the dealer of European Blackjack Gold
will always stand on a score of 17. If the dealer busts, you automatically
win. If there is a tie it is called a Push and a new hand is dealt.
•If both your cards are of the same value you may ‘split’ and
continue with a bet placed on two separate hands. You may not
split on cards with a value of 10 that are dissimilar – eg. a
Jack and a King.
•If the European Blackjack Gold dealer gets blackjack, all your
bets, including doubles, are lost. You can place an additional
‘Insurance’ bet against this if the dealer’s first card is an
Ace.
•Blackjack – an Ace and another card with a score of 10 – always
beats any other hand of 21. If you get blackjack, you are paid
at odds of 3 to 2. All other wins are paid at 1 to 1.
